Hand Stripping is a specialised grooming technique used on certain types of dogs -especially those with wirey or coarse coat textures (like Terriers), or Silky coated dogs (like Spaniels and Setters)- to maintain the coat’s texture, colour and health. 

Instead of cutting the hair with scissors or clippers, hand stripping involves plucking the dead topcoat hairs out by hand, or by using specialised tools like stripping knives or stones. This allows new, healthy hair to grow back whilst keeping the natural integrity of the dog’s coat and remain fit for purpose.  

Hand Stripping is a personalised service, depending on each dog, their coat, and your preference for length and style. During the first appointment, a short consultation will take place to discuss your preferences and the style desired.
